Italian American Scholarship 2025

Senator Andrew Lanza & The New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators are now accepting applications for scholarships to be awarded at the Annual Italian-American Day in Albany.

There are academic and athletic scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each. Scholarships are available to eligible residents of the 24th Senate District who are current college students or high school seniors entering college.

Students who apply for the Academic Scholarship must: 1) have demonstrated a grade point average of 85 and over, 2) have good conduct and demonstrate the dedication to pursue and complete a higher education, 3) are active in the community and extracurricular activities, 4) reside within the 24th Senate district, and 5) can demonstrate financial need. In addition to these qualifications, students applying for an Athletic Scholarship must also be involved in an organized sport(s). Students can apply for both opportunities.

The Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is a bipartisan organization of New York State Senate and Assembly members who are actively involved in promoting and celebrating the State’s Italian-American community. The mission of the Conference is to work hard to elevate and highlight Italian-American contributions to the State of New York and beyond, in all aspects of society, including literature, the arts, architecture and politics.

Applicants will be judged based upon grade point average, good conduct, an interest in pursuing a higher education degree, involvement in community service and extracurricular activities, as well as individual financial need. 

Scholarship Winners will be announced in April and will be contacted directly. Winners should plan on being in Albany on Monday, May 19th to receive their award at the Italian-American Day Celebration.

 

Applicants need not be of Italian-American heritage to apply.
