Car Seat Safety Check-Mineola
- Children
Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) will be sponsoring a free child safety seat check on Saturday, October 18th in Mineola. The free car seat safety check will be held from 10 am to 1 pm at Wilson Park (185 Westbury Avenue, Mineola).
Officials from the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board will be performing free safety seat inspections to make sure that drivers have their children’s car seats properly installed and secured. Child safety seats can reduce the threat of injury or death by as much as 65 percent, but only if they are installed properly, according to the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board. The Nassau County Traffic Safety Board also estimates that as many as 90 percent of these seats are improperly installed.
New York State Law requires all children under age 8 to be restrained in an appropriate child safety seat while riding in a motor vehicle.
Appointments for free child safety seat checks will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. To schedule an appointment, please call Senator Martins’ office at 516-746-5924.
