MWBE Lobby Day in Albany

State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village, Far Rockaway), Chairman of the NYS Senate Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) Task Force and Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte, Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on MWBEs will host a statewide MWBE Coalition Lobby Day on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. They will be joined by MWBE firms and partners from various industries throughout the state to advocate on MWBE-related issues and legislation and to hold a press conference, which will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Million Dollar Staircase. 

Throughout the day coalition members will be meeting with and educating legislators about key issues and bills relating to small business and MWBEs around increasing: MWBE participation, capacity building and mentorship programs, transparency and accountability and access to capital.
 
"As the newly appointed leader of the Senate Democratic Conference's MWBE Task Force, and as the father of the MWBE laws in NYC, having authored Local Law 1 and Local Law 129, during my time in the City Council, I believe we should be doing all we can to empower these entrepreneurs and level the playing field in a way that helps them realize their full potential," said State Senator James Sanders, Jr. "Under those conditions, I am proud to stand with my colleagues in government as we work together for the advancement of MWBEs."  

"I am happy to see momentum across the state on this issue from Buffalo, to Syracuse, to New York City," said Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte. "There is evidence to show that $1 million in investment can be transformed into 25 jobs and now more than ever there is a great need not only for a strong financial commitment, but also a great need for a strong political commitment."
