The COVID-19 pandemic has ended public education in NYC for this school year. Under those conditions, Senator James Sanders Jr. is hosting a virtual community conversation on re-imaging public education in Southeast Queens after Coronavirus.

We will examine end-of-year concerns and the potential for summer school and what it may look like for our children in Southeast Queens. Our goal is to move the discussion towards creating a plan of how we would like public education to support children who are moving up and graduating into different levels of education. We want to ensure their summer is being used to keep them on track for the next school year. Senator Sanders believes that any transformation of public education post COVID-19 in Southeast Queens must be led, and directed, by local community leadership.

Joining Senator Sanders for this conversation as community partners will be Epsilon Pi Omega Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. , Queens Alumni Chapter Delta Sigma theta Sorority, Inc. , Community Education Council (CEC) 27 and CEC 28, Flying 3Sixty, Inc., and NYADI - The college of Transportation Technology, just to name a few.

The conversation will take place on Facebook Live on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 3:00 PM.
