Forum/Town Hall: Sen. Krueger, Senate Democratic Conference Host Capitol Forum on Women in the Workforce
- Labor
- Jobs & Employment
Sen. Liz Krueger is hosting a roundtable discussion on economic issues facing women in New York. This roundtable discussion will be held on Tuesday, May 15th, at 12:30 pm in the Capitol, Room 305.
Experts who have been working on solutions to these issues have been invited to share insights and discuss how to achieve the goals of equal pay for equal work and increased economic opportunities for women in New York State.
The year is 2012 and our society has taken steps forward for equality – yet gender gaps stubbornly persist in all spheres of American life, especially in the workplace. Women still make fewer than 75 cents on average for every dollar earned by men. Women remain disproportionately concentrated in lower-wage jobs and industries.
These issues are not and should not be partisan. As a state with a proud history of leadership on women’s rights, New York needs to have this conversation, and needs to take the next steps on the road to true equality.
Live streaming video of the forum will be available at the New York Senate Democrats UStream channel.
