“TOTS-2-SENIORS”

(D-Jamaica) Senator Shirley L. Huntley partnered with Mothers Against Guns, Inc (MAG) to give out toys, books, clothing and coats to families from throughout the Southeast Queens community. Residents who received these much needed items ranged from small children to seniors. Bicycles, sweaters, gloves, board games, and many more items were given out this past Saturday, December 11th, at Senator Huntley’s Satellite office in Rosedale and local shelters. The surrounding community as well as Senator Huntley and MAG recognized the importance of helping their fellow neighbors and citizens, especially since both the winter and holiday seasons have already started.

Every year as the calendar turns to November and December, it is critically important to know that there will be those who will be unprepared for the cold, and go without presents for the holidays. In recent years due to the downturn in the economy it has become even more difficult for families to purchase certain necessities. The TOTS-2-SENIORS Donation Drive was very successful due to the compassion and goodwill the Southeast Queens community has shared with each other for many years. Many families will be able to properly dress their children during these cold months, and seniors will not have to pinch pennies to get winter clothing.
