Fair Fares Event
Senator Simcha Felder will host a Fair Fares event with the NYC Department of Social Services (NYC DSS) on Wednesday, March 20th from 10 AM to 3 PM at Premium Health Center, located at 4510 16th Avenue in Boro Park, attendees will have the opportunity to determine eligibility and apply for half-fare MetroCards with assistance from representatives of NYC DSS.
The Fair Fares Program helps low-income New Yorkers between the ages of 18 – 64 to afford NYC transit more easily by providing 50% discounted MetroCards to eligible individuals. Pay-per-Ride, weekly unlimited, and monthly unlimited options are available. Fair Fares can also provide 50% off Access-A-Ride paratransit trips. Seniors aged 65 and over qualify for half-fare MetroCards under a separate program and can apply directly with the MTA or at one of Senator Felder’s MetroBus events scheduled throughout the year.
Participants can expect professional NYC DSS staff to guide them through the application process with on-the-spot submission. Documentation per working household member can include:
• Pay Stubs for the last 4 weeks or Letter of Employment
• Current Rent Receipts
• Photo ID/Social Security Card/Birth Certificate
• Social Security Retirement/Disability/SSI Award Letter
• Pension Income Documentation
• Proof of Residency (Lease, Electric or Gas Utility Bill)
