Senator Sue Serino is celebrating ‘Earth Day’ with a unique initiative aimed at sparking an interest in local ‘green’ jobs. The Hudson Valley is home to countless environmental career opportunities, and with a growing interest in this field, Senator Serino is hosting a virtual ‘Green’ Jobs Panel Discussion with Hudson Valley environmental experts, for area middle school, high school and college students who may be thinking about exploring this career path.  

“Green jobs will help shape the future of our community and our state,” said Senator Serino. “We want our next generation to get a leg up by giving them opportunities to learn more about the types of careers that exist in this field. This virtual panel will feature area environmental experts who will share their stories and will provide insight on the skills and training needed to get involved in this field. While the event is geared toward students who are planning their next steps, the event is open to anyone in our community who may be interested in learning more about this rapidly growing field.”

This virtual event will take place on Thursday, April 22^nd at 5:30 p.m. and is open to students and parents from area schools, as well as interested community members. An RSVP is required, and those interested can do so by emailing serino@nysenate.gov or by calling Senator Serino’s Hyde Park Office at 845-229-0106 by Tuesday, April 20^th. A secure Zoom link and instructions will be sent via email prior to the event.

In 2020, Senator Serino launched her virtual “Planning for a Future that Works” initiative, aimed at providing students an in-depth look at different career opportunities in the trades.
