In a recent report, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that almost half a million Americans are diagnosed with and treated for Lyme disease each year, yet zero dollars have been allocated to combat the spread in this year’s Executive Budget Proposal. Funding for public health has never been more important, and it is critical that New York State continues to do all it can to protect its residents.

On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Senator Sue Serino will host a press conference encouraging the State Legislature to include funding for Lyme and tick-borne disease research, prevention and education  initiatives in the 2021-2022 final state budget. Immediately following the press conference, Lyme disease experts and advocates will take part in an informational panel to provide an update on the status of Lyme and TBDs in the state today.

Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
