Senator Sue Serino is continuing her annual effort to raise community awareness around human trafficking here in the Hudson Valley. On Wednesday, October 14^th, Senator Serino will host a virtual forum aimed at combating the myths associated with this issue and providing residents with tools and resources to help them stay safe in an increasingly 'remote' world. 

Participants will hear more about the impact human trafficking has on Dutchess & Putnam counties and they will learn more about ways to identify and support victims, and how to stay safe online and out in the community. 

Event speakers include:

·      David Garcia, Coordinator for the Dutchess County Task Force Against Human Trafficking;

·      MaryBeth Ross, Safe Harbour Putnam County;

·      Courtney Albert, LMHC, Founder of Give Way to Freedom; and 

·      Megan Bajana & Bekah Polonsky, Community Educators from the Grace Smith House.

“With technology continuing to change and advance, it’s important for families and individuals to have the most up-to-date information to stay safe and conscious while online and using social media,” said Senator Sue Serino. “Human trafficking isn’t just a ‘big city’ issue, and the reality is it’s happening right here in the Hudson Valley. This event will allow for us to hear from those in our community who are working tirelessly to raise awareness and fight back against these horrific crimes. Most importantly, the event aims to help our neighbors learn more about what we can do to protect ourselves and neighbors in a world that is increasingly becoming more remote and isolated.”
