Free Narcan Training

Tackling a health epidemic like heroin and opioid abuse is no small task. Senator Sue Serino is working tirelessly to take a proactive approach to helping families battle the cycle of addiction, but the reality is, far too many are falling victim to heroin.

That’s why on Wednesday, September 21st from 6:00-7:00pm Senator Serino will be hosting a free Narcan training event at the Wappinger Town Hall (20 Middlebush Rd.) to help members of our community learn to save a life in the event of an overdose.

Throughout the event, community members will learn how to identify and prevent an overdose and how to administer the lifesaving antidote, Narcan, which can reverse the effects of an overdose long enough for the individual to receive medical attention.

You will also receive a free overdose prevention kit provided by the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health.

“While it is our hope that you will never have to use it, you just never know when you might need Narcan to save a life,” said Senator Serino. “I encourage community members to take advantage of this critical program. By working together, learning how to prevent devastating overdoses and increasing aid to services that can save lives, we can provide hope to thousands of families battling the cycle of addiction.”

All members of the community are invited to attend and encouraged to spread the word.

To participate, simply RSVP by September 7th by calling Senator Serino’s office at 845-229-0106.
