BILL NUMBER: S6467 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the state finance law, in relation to prohibiting reductions in appropriations for the support of education during the state fiscal year PURPOSE : Eliminating budget cuts in New York City public schools from the time period of July 1st up to and including the beginning of the September school year. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : A new paragraph (F) is amended into Subdivision 2, Section 40, of the State Finance Law. EXISTING LAW : While there is no current New York State law to block mid-year school aid cuts, these cuts will adversely impact students and faculty in the educational school system.

ADDABBO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance AN ACT to amend the state finance law, in relation to prohibiting reductions in appropriations for the support of education during the state fiscal year THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 40 of the state finance law is amended by adding a new paragraph (f) to read as follows: (F) NO APPROPRIATION MADE AT A REGULAR SESSION OF THE LEGISLATURE FOR THE SUPPORT OF EDUCATION IN THIS STATE SHALL BE REDUCED, LIMITED OR OTHERWISE DIMINISHED IN ANY WAY PRIOR TO THE THIRTIETH DAY OF JUNE IMME- DIATELY FOLLOWING THE STATE FISCAL YEAR FOR WHICH IT IS ENACTED. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15239-01-0
