CRESPO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Banks AN ACT to amend the banking law, in relation to requiring banking insti- tutions to accept the Dominican consular identification card issued by the consulate general of the Dominican Republic as a valid form of identification for all banking transactions THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The banking law is amended by adding a new section 9-v to read as follows: S 9-V. DOMINICAN IDENTIFICATION CARD, VALID FORM OF IDENTIFICATION. 1. EVERY BANKING INSTITUTION SHALL ACCEPT AS A VALID FORM OF IDENTIFICATION FOR ALL BANKING TRANSACTIONS THE DOMINICAN IDENTIFICATION CARD ISSUED BY THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. 2. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION, THE TERM "BANKING INSTITUTION" SHALL MEAN AND INCLUDE ALL BANKS, TRUST COMPANIES, SAVINGS BANKS, SAVINGS AND LOAN ASSOCIATIONS, LICENSED FOREIGN BANKS AND CREDIT UNIONS. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD03133-01-1
