BILL NUMBER:S3967 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 548 of the laws of 2004, amending the education law relating to certain tuition waivers for police officer students of the city university of New York, in relation to making permanent the provisions of such chapter PURPOSE: This bill continues for 2 years, a tuition waiver for one course for police officer students in baccalaureate or higher degree programs at CUNY. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill amends chapter 548 of the laws of 2004 which required the Board of Trustees of the city University of New York (CUNY) to promulgate regulations to permit members of the New York City police Department who are enrolled in programs leading to a baccalaureate or higher degree at CUNY, to take one course without tuition, on a space available basis, provided that the course is related to their employment as a police officer.

ADAMS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend chapter 548 of the laws of 2004, amending the education law relating to certain tuition waivers for police officer students of the city university of New York, in relation to making permanent the provisions of such chapter THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 548 of the laws of 2004, amending the education law relating to certain tuition waivers for police officer students of the city university of New York, as amended by chapter 190 of the laws of 2010, is amended to read as follows: S 2. This act shall take effect immediately [and shall expire and be deemed repealed July 1, 2012]. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
