BILL NUMBER: S3331 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to agricultural trailers being covered under the towing vehicles liability insurance PURPOSE : To permit insurance coverage for trailers used for agricultural purposes under the towing vehicles liability insurance. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1 amends the Vehicle and Traffic law at section 345 by adding a new paragraph, providing the motor vehicle liability policy shall cover any agricultural trailer, as defined in schedule E of subdivision 7 of section 401, being moved by a motor vehicle covered under such policy. Section 2 provides an effective date. JUSTIFICATION : As defined in the Vehicle and Traffic law, an agricultural trailer is a trailer, other than a coach or house trailer or semitrailer, owned by a person who is engaged in agricultural production. RITCHIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to agricultural trailers being covered under the towing vehicles liability insurance THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision (i) of section 345 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new paragraph 4 to read as follows: (4) THE POLICY SHALL COVER ANY AGRICULTURAL TRAILER, AS DEFINED IN SCHEDULE E OF SUBDIVISION SEVEN OF SECTION FOUR HUNDRED ONE OF THIS CHAPTER, BEING MOVED BY A MOTOR VEHICLE COVERED UNDER SUCH POLICY. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law; provided that the commissioner of motor vehicles is authorized to promulgate any rules and regulations necessary to imple- ment this act on or before its effective date.
