S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 3480 2021-2022 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y January 27, 2021 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. O'DONNELL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development AN ACT to establish a temporary state commission to rename the Robert Moses State Park; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The commissioner of the New York state office of parks, recreation and historic preservation is hereby authorized to create a temporary state commission, hereafter referred to as the commission, to rename the Robert Moses State Park located in Long Island. Such commis- sion shall choose a name that clearly reflects the history of Long Island. § 2. (a) The commission shall consist of five members, to be appointed as follows: two members to be appointed by the commissioner of the New York state office of parks, recreation and historic preservation; one member to be appointed by the temporary president of the senate; one member to be appointed by the speaker of the assembly; and one member to be appointed by the Suffolk county executive. Vacancies in the member- ship of the commission and among its officers shall be filled in the manner provided for original appointments or designations. Such appoint- ments shall be made within six months of the effective date of this act. (b) The members of the commission shall receive no compensation for their services, but shall be allowed their actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties under this act. (c) All departments or agencies of the state or subdivisions thereof shall, at the request of the commission, provide such facilities, assistance, and data as will enable the commission to carry out its powers and duties. § 3. (a) For the accomplishment of its purposes, the commission may meet and hold hearings within or without the state.
