Requires the commissioner of health to establish at least one state-operated COVID-19 vaccination site in counties outside of the city of New York with a population of at least 300,000; provides that such site shall be open and operational with hours of operation, staffing levels and other resources necessary to ensure that such site operates in a substantially similar manner to other state-operated COVID-19 vaccination sites.

BILL NUMBER: S5295 SPONSOR: REICHLIN-MELNICK TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to requiring the commissioner of health to establish at least one state-operated COVID-19 vaccination site in certain coun- ties outside of the city of New York PURPOSE: To ensure that all counties outside New York City with a population of at least 300,000 must have at least one state-operated COVID-19 vaccina- tion site open and operational within 30 days of the passage of this bill SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. REICHLIN-MELNICK -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT in relation to requiring the commissioner of health to establish at least one state-operated COVID-19 vaccination site in certain coun- ties outside of the city of New York THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Within 30 days of the effective date of this act, the commissioner of health shall create and implement a program to ensure that in counties with a population of at least 300,000, determined in accordance with the latest decennial federal census, and located outside of a city with a population of one million or more, at least one state- operated COVID-19 vaccination site is open and operational with hours of operation, staffing levels and any other resources necessary to ensure that such site operates in a substantially similar manner to other state-operated COVID-19 vaccination sites currently in operation. § 2.
