BILL NUMBER: S6071 SPONSOR: REICHLIN-MELNICK TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the education law, in relation to increasing the cap on earnings for eligible individuals with no dependents receiving tuition assistance program awards PURPOSE: Relates to increasing the cap to $30,000 on earnings for eligible indi- viduals with no dependents receiving TAP awards. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one amends § 667 of the education law, to increase the earnings cap associated with TAP eligibility for single, independent undergradu- ate students to to $30,000 per year. Section two provides the effective date.

REICHLIN-MELNICK -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to increasing the cap on earnings for eligible individuals with no dependents receiving tuition assistance program awards THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Item 2 of clause (A) of subparagraph (iii) of paragraph a of subdivision 3 of section 667 of the education law, as amended by section 3 of part H of chapter 58 of the laws of 2011, is amended to read as follows: (2) Three thousand dollars or Thirty-one per centum of more, but not more than [ten] amount in excess of three THIRTY thousand dollars thousand dollars § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD08284-01-1
