BILL NUMBER: S827 SPONSOR: KRUEGER TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the executive law, in relation to the creation of a public database of projects funded in the state budget PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:: To increase accountability and transparency in the distribution of New York State budget funds by providing a searchable database of the distribution of state funds, updated annually with the passage of each new budget. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:: Adds a new section to executive law, section 184, that requires the state division on budget to maintain a public database of all projects funded in the state budget, including the last name of legislators who submitted the funding request of such projects. KRUEGER, GOUNARDES -- read twice and ordered print- ed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Budget and Revenue AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to the creation of a public database of projects funded in the state budget THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 184 to read as follows: § 184. BUDGET-FUNDED PROJECT DATABASE. THE STATE DIVISION OF BUDGET SHALL MAINTAIN A PUBLIC DATABASE OF ALL PROJECTS FUNDED IN THE STATE BUDGET THAT SHALL INCLUDE THE DOLLAR AMOUNT ALLOCATED TO EACH PROJECT FUNDED IN THE BUDGET AND THE LAST NAME OF THE MEMBER OR MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE WHO SUBMITTED THE FUNDING REQUEST FOR SUCH PROJECTS. SUCH PUBLIC DATABASE SHALL BE PUBLISHED ONLINE ON THE DIVISION OF BUDGET WEBSITE, AND SHALL BE UPDATED ANNUALLY UPON THE PASSAGE OF THE STATE BUDGET. SUCH PUBLIC DATABASE SHALL ALSO INCLUDE ANY FUNDS ALLOCATED TO PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS WHICH ARE NOT OTHERWISE REQUIRED BY LAW TO DISCLOSE THE FUNDING SOURCES OF SUCH PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS. § 2.
