PRETLOW -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to parking near a stop sign THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subparagraph c of paragraph 2 of subdivision (a) of section 1202 of the vehicle and traffic law, as amended by chapter 679 of the laws of 1970, is amended to read as follows: c. Within thirty feet upon the approach to any flashing signal, stop or yield sign or traffic-control signal located at the side of the road- way, unless a different distance is indicated by official signs, mark- ings or parking meters. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL ENSURE THAT NOTIFICATION OF THE DISTANCE REQUIREMENT ESTABLISHED BY THIS SECTION IS CONSPICUOUSLY POSTED BENEATH ANY STOP SIGN POSTED ON A STATE HIGHWAY; § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the commissioner of motor vehicles may begin the installation of any signs required as a result of this act.
