REILLY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT in relation to designating the Eltingville transit center as the "Iraq War and Afghanistan War Veterans' Memorial Transit Center" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any other law, ruling, regulation, determi- nation or order, the Eltingville transit center located in Eltingville, Staten Island in Richmond county shall be designated as the "Iraq War and Afghanistan War Veterans' Memorial Transit Center". § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD03504-01-3

The Eltingville transit center of the metropolitan trans- portation authority is hereby named the Iraq War and Afghanistan War Veterans' Memorial Transit Center. The metropolitan transportation authority shall ensure that all signs, maps, and any other items issued by the metropolitan transportation authority are updated to accurately reflect the new name of the center within such time and in such manner as the metropolitan transportation authority shall deem appropriate. § 2. REILLY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee -- reference changed to the Committee on Ways and Means -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT in relation to directing the metropolitan transportation authori- ty to rename the Eltingville transit center the Iraq War and Afghanis- tan War Veterans' Memorial Transit Center; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Upon a determination by the metropolitan transportation authority or the New York city transit authority that sufficient funds have been committed to it specifically for such purpose, the metropol- itan transportation authority, the public benefit corporation created by section 1263 of the public authorities law, and the New York city trans- it authority, the public benefit corporation created by section 1201 of the public authorities law, shall use such specifically committed funds to rename the Eltingville transit center of the metropolitan transporta- tion authority to the Iraq War and Afghanistan War Veterans' Memorial Transit Center. The MTA shall ensure that all signs and any other items issued by the MTA are updated to accurately reflect the new name of the station within ten months. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately; and shall expire and be deemed repealed after the signs and any other items described in section one of this act are accurately updated. The chief executive officer of the metropolitan transportation authority or president of the New York city transit authority shall notify the legislative bill drafting commission upon the completion of such updates in order that the commis- sion may maintain an accurate and timely effective data base of the official text of the laws of the state of New York in furtherance of effectuating the provisions of section 44 of the legislative law and section 70-b of the public officers law.
