BILL NUMBER: S6985 SPONSOR: SANDERS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the transportation law, in relation to requiring bomb or blast resistant garbage receptacles in facilities of common carriers PURPOSE: To require bomb resistant garbage receptacles in all transportation facilities relating to the transportation of passengers or property from one point to another within the state of New York by any common carrier performing such service. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: § 1.Section 113 of the transportation law is added providing that: 1. Every corporation, person or common carrier performing transportation services regulated under the Transportation Act shall furnish its public facilities with bomb or blast resistant garbage receptacles.

SANDERS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the transportation law, in relation to requiring bomb or blast resistant garbage receptacles in facilities of common carriers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The transportation law is amended by adding a new section 113 to read as follows: § 113. BOMB RESISTANT GARBAGE RECEPTACLES. 1. EVERY CORPORATION, PERSON OR COMMON CARRIER PERFORMING A SERVICE DESIGNATED IN SECTION NINETY-FIVE OF THIS ARTICLE, SHALL ONLY FURNISH, WITH RESPECT TO FACILI- TIES THERETO, BOMB OR BLAST RESISTANT GARBAGE RECEPTACLES. 2. THE MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS OF THE BOMB OR BLAST RESISTANT GARBAGE RECEPTACLES SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF HOME- LAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES. § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
