BILL NUMBER: S7664 SPONSOR: ASHBY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to adding spina bifida to the definition of developmental disability PURPOSE: This bill will include spina bifida in a list defining the term "devel- opmental disability". SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1, Subparagraph I is amended to include spina bifida among the list of developmental disabilities. ASHBY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to adding spina bifida to the definition of developmental disability THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subparagraph 1 of paragraph (a) of subdivision 22 of section 1.03 of the mental hygiene law, as amended by chapter 114 of the laws of 2017, is amended to read as follows: (1) is attributable to intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, neurological impairment, familial dysautonomia, Prader-Willi syndrome, SPINA BIFIDA or autism; § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD09133-01-3
