BILL NUMBER: S8912 SPONSOR: FERNANDEZ TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the cannabis law, in relation to notice to elected offi- cials upon receipt of certain applications PURPOSE: Relates to providing notice to elected officials upon receipt of appli- cation for a cannabis retail dispensary or on-site consumption license SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This bill would require the cannabis control board to provide written notice within thirty days upon receipt of a completed application for an adult-use retail dispensary license or an adult-use on-site consumption license to members of the state assembly and senate who represent the district in which the proposed dispensary or on-site consumption estab- lishment is located.

FERNANDEZ -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the cannabis law, in relation to notice to elected offi- cials upon receipt of certain applications THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 61 of the cannabis law is amended by adding a new subdivision 4 to read as follows: 4. THE BOARD SHALL, WITHIN THIRTY DAYS OF THE RECEIPT OF A COMPLETED APPLICATION FOR AN ADULT-USE RETAIL DISPENSARY LICENSE OR AN ADULT-USE ON-SITE CONSUMPTION LICENSE, PROVIDE WRITTEN NOTICE TO THE MEMBERS OF THE STATE ASSEMBLY AND SENATE WHO REPRESENT THE DISTRICT IN WHICH THE PREMISES OF THE PROPOSED DISPENSARY OR ON-SITE CONSUMPTION ESTABLISHMENT IS LOCATED, THAT THE APPLICATION WAS RECEIVED BY THE BOARD. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately; provided that the canna- bis control board shall provide the notice required by subdivision 4 of section 61 of the cannabis law as added by section one of this act for any completed application which is pending as of the effective date of this act.
