SOLAGES -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Housing AN ACT to establish a housing task force addressing affordable housing for millennials in suburban counties THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. A housing task force to address affordable housing for millennials in suburban counties is hereby established. The role of the task force includes, but is not limited to: (a) facilitating interagency planning and policy; (b) reviewing specific agency initiatives for affordable housing for millennials ages 25 to 35; (c) providing a continuing forum to discuss concerns and issues related to the formulation of state policy designed to help address this issue; (d) developing linkages and partnerships with housing developers and other appropriate entities to address the problem of lack of affordable housing for millennials; and (e) identifying existing state initiatives that would aid in providing millennials with resources to find affordable housing. § 2. On or before two years after the effective date of this act, the task force shall issue its findings, any legislative recommendations or proposed state policy changes it deems necessary to the governor, tempo- rary president of the senate, speaker of the assembly, minority leader of the senate, and minority leader of the assembly. The task force may also issue interim findings, legislative recommendations, or proposed state policy changes it deems necessary at any time. § 3. The task force shall consist of a total of twelve members and shall be appointed as follows: six members shall be appointed by the governor, including one member recommended by the commissioner of the division of housing and community renewal, one member recommended by the EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
