BILL NUMBER: S2325 SPONSOR: COMRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act mandating that the public service commission examine a process for streamlining actions relating to identifying and removing certain utility poles PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this bill is to require every electric and telecommuni- cations corporation and association to remove dangerous double poles no longer in use. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill requires the public service commission to require every electric and telecommunications corporation and association to submit their reports pursuant to a public service commission proceeding to evaluate a standardized facility and equipment transfer program with- in ninety days of the effective date of this act. COMRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Energy and Telecommuni- cations AN ACT mandating that the public service commission examine a process for streamlining actions relating to identifying and removing certain utility poles THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The public service commission shall initiate a proceeding to examine a process for streamlining actions relating to identifying and removing utility poles that do not have any attachments and are no longer in use. Every pole owner shall submit information related to such poles and other relevant information at the request of the public service commission. On or before September 30, 2026, the public service commission shall issue an order adopting the new or revised rules asso- ciated with the matters examined in the proceeding provided for in this act. § 2.
