S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 400 2025-2026 Regular Sessions I N S E N A T E (PREFILED) January 8, 2025 ___________ Introduced by Sen. MYRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to defining the term "mass shooting" for purposes of emergency response measures and access to emergency funding THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 11 of section 835 of the executive law, as amended by chapter 69 of the laws of 2024, is amended to read as follows: 11. "Mass shooting" means an incident in which at least four people are murdered OR INJURED with a firearm, rifle, or shotgun. § 2. Subparagraph (vi) of paragraph (b) of subdivision 2 of section 631-a of the executive law, as added by chapter 69 of the laws of 2024, is amended to read as follows: (vi) services to victims of a mass shooting as defined in subdivision eleven of section eight hundred thirty-five of this chapter [or of a shooting incident in which four or more people are injured]. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD01718-01-5
