§ 2601. Helen Hayes Hospital; functions; powers and duties. 1. The
Helen Hayes Hospital may receive persons who are physically disabled,
deformed or suffering from disease from which they are likely to become
physically disabled or deformed, for care, study and experimental or
other treatment, under regulations established by the commissioner.
2. No person provided for by this article, however, shall be admitted
to the hospital unless at the time of his admission he is capable of
benefiting from care in terms of improved capacity for remunerative
occupation or self-sufficiency.
3. The hospital shall, in conjunction with its provision of care and
treatment, conduct investigations of the cause, mortality, treatment,
prevention and cure of physically disabling or deforming diseases and
conditions.
