Mastic Beach, NY – As millions of citizens and hundreds of elected officials from around the country gathered in Washington D.C to celebrate the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama, Sen. Brian X. Foley joined students at the William Floyd School District as they took part in the festivities.
Sen. Foley engaged students in a dialogue about the political process and the important role students can play in our democracy. "President Obama's historic assent to the presidency points to America's greatness and the promise that in this country anything is achievable," said Foley. "All of us have a duty to follow President Obama's lead in rededicating ourselves to public service and helping lift up America, one community at a time," said Foley, speaking to students in the hometown of William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
