Memorial Day in Northeast Queens

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) participated in a number of parades, ceremonies and observances throughout Northeast Queens over the Memorial Day weekend. Padavan, a retired colonel and 30-year veteran of the United State Army Corp of Engineers said, “We gather together as a community to reflect upon the supreme sacrifices of Americans who have given their lives in the defense of our freedoms. We honor the valiant service, bravery and courage of soliders who have served our great nation.” Senator Padavan, Mayor Bloomberg and Grand Marshall Henry Hine, a retired mechanical engineer and local veteran lead the College Point Memorial Day Parade on Sunday May 24, 2009.
