New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined members of the Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC) and local environmental enthusiasts at a day-long event to mark National Estuaries Day on Saturday, September 26, 2009. Established in 1988, National Estuaries Day seeks to foster awareness regarding the importance of estuaries and wetlands and the increased need to protect and preserve them throughout the country. The APEC event highlighted the environmental conservation efforts taking place on the Little Neck Bay and featured speakers and exhibits from environmental groups in Queens and throughout the New York City. Since being instrumental in its founding, Senator Padavan continues to work with APEC in its overall growth and operation as one of New York City premiere environmental educational facilities.
