CAPITOL STUDENTS--State Senator George Winner (R-C-I, Elmira) recently welcomed to the State Capitol several area students who participated in the 9th Annual “Students Inside Albany” conference sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New York State. Through the annual conference, select high school students spend several days in Albany learning about New York State government and politics.
Students also spend an afternoon “shadowing” Senator Winner and other state legislators to get a firsthand look at New York’s legislative process. Senator Winner met with, from left to right, Vanessa Tran (Watkins Glen High School), Ray Henninger (Charles O. Dickerson High School, Trumansburg), and Caroline Likoudis (Watkins Glen High School).
“I’m grateful to the League of Women Voters for providing these students with a unique opportunity to participate in New York government,” said Senator Winner. “It’s enormously important to do everything we can to help instill a strong sense of public service among our young people and future leaders.”
