Senator Nozzolio Hosts Food Bank Forum

Geneva- New York State Senator Michael Nozzolio recently held a discussion with representatives of the area food pantries and service organizations. The discussion focused on the problems that these organizations are experiencing in helping individuals and families provide for their nutritional needs. During the meeting, these individuals cited the growing number of people who are seeking help for the first time, many due to the loss of employment and others who are actually working but at jobs that make it impossible for them to meet their family's needs.

The discussion focused on ways to meet the increased demand on the local food pantries as well as ways to improve the services that are currently available to these organizations. "New challenges have arisen for our local food pantries and the food banks that service this need as a result of this unprecedented downturn in the economy,” Senator Nozzolio said, “This forum allowed people to share ideas and give creative solutions to their issues.”

In addition to listening to the concerns that were raised, Senator Nozzolio pledged to work with the members of these organizations to help raise awareness on the issue of hunger in our local communities and to seek the community's help in meeting the increased demand for services. "Whether it's participating in a local food drive or volunteering an hour or two of time, we can all help to fight hunger," said Senator Nozzolio.
