State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon) recently visited with the Babylon Village Junior Girl Scout Troop 683 and Cadette Girl Scout Troop 1043 during their trip to Albany for the New York State Girl Scout Legislative Networks Annual Legislators Breakfast. The Girl Scouts that received an invitation to this event had either received a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award for a project that they had recently completed. These projects demonstrated the importance of community service and character education.
Junior Girl Scout Troop 683’s project was a mentoring program for younger children. This program allowed them to demonstrate skills such as caring for children, teaching and leadership.
Cadette Girl Scout Troop 1043’s project was an enhancement of the 911 Memorial at Cedar Beach in the Town of Babylon. They enhanced the area through cleaning, planting, and other special projects.
Senator Johnson congratulated the girls on their scouting achievements.
