The Project for Academic Student Success (PASS) offers free academic tutoring, homework help, life-skills counseling, prevention services, after-school recreation, and other activities to students 11 to 17 years old, who are falling into a pattern of school failure and risky behavior.
Tutoring and other services are offered Monday through Thursday evenings, beginning in mid-September, at both PASS offices, 3974 Amboy Rd. in Great Kills, and 14 Slosson Terr. in St. George. Licensed, master’s degree-level teachers provide individual and small group instruction in reading, writing, math, and other subjects. Homework assistance is also offered, as well as a computer lab, with supervised access to the Internet.
Parents are invited to participate in workshops covering a variety of teenage issues. The program is sponsored by the Staten Island Mental Health Society.
For information and applications, call South Shore PASS at 718- 966-1296, or North Shore PASS at 718- 720-6727.
