First Sergeant Thomas Seifert has had a distinguished 18 year career of service to the New York State Army National Guard. During his time with the New York National Guard First Sergeant Thomas Seifert has led his men on an off of the battle field. On September 11, 2001, as Squad Leader of B Company, 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment of the 42nd Infantry Division to the site of the World Trade Center disaster to provide assistance. Later in 2001 and through 2002, First Sergeant Seifert once again led B Company, as Squad Leader during Operation Nobel Eagle at United States Military Academy at West Point.
After that operation was completed, he served as Platoon Sergeant B Company, 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, 256th Brigade Combat Team during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Thomas Seifert was later promoted to First Sergeant where he led C Company, 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment of the 27th Brigade Combat Team during Operation Cobra Cold in Thailand. First Sergeant is currently assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company of the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment of the 27th Brigade Combat Team.
During his distinguished service to the United States First Sergeant many awards and decorations for his exemplary leadership, service and resolve. First Sergeant Thomas Seifert has been awarded the Humane Service to New York Medal; the New York State Aid to Civil Authority Medal; New York State Conspicuous Service Cross; New York State Defense of Liberty Medal with WTC Device; Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon; Army Service Ribbon; NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Number 3 Device; the Global War on Terrorism Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; the National Defense Medal with Bronze Service Star; the Army reserve Components Achievement Medal with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; the Army Good Conduct Medal; Army Achievement Medal with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Commendation Medal, The Bronze Star; and Combat Infantry Badge. In addition to his exemplary military service, First Sergeant Thomas Siefert has been a Patrol Officer in the Suffolk County Police Department for the last 16 years and an involved member of his home community.
He is a founding member, and current Vice President, of the Suffolk County Police Veterans Association which is an association open to all Suffolk County law enforcement members that are military veterans. He is also a member of the Robert F. Garrison 3350 VFW and current delegate to the Nassau County Council. He is also a member of the 69th Infantry Veterans Corps and National Infantry Association where he develops support amongst infantrymen. Frst Sergeant Seifert is a merit badge councilor for Boy Scout Troop 121 of East Rockaway where he assists boy scouts in the community to become leaders of tomorrow. He is active in a number of other community activities which benefit the residents of his home village of East Rockaway.
