New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) participated in a number of parades, ceremonies and observances to mark Memorial Day in Northeast Queens. Padavan, a retired colonel and 30-year veteran of the United States Army Corp of Engineers said, “ On Memorial Day we gather as a community to pay tribute to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy our freedom. We honor the valiant service, bravery and courage of all soldiers who have served our great nation. We also pray and hope for the safe return of all the men and women currently serving in the defense of our freedom in all reaches of our globe Senator Padavan greets the crowd gathered along the parade route at the Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day Parade on Monday May 31, 2010.
