New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens), students from the Immaculate Conception School’s Aquinas Honor Society and local civic leaders joined together for the unveiling of a historical marker for Jamaica Estates. The event took place at the location of the plaque at Wexford Terrace and Midland Malls on Friday morning April 23, 2010. Padavan provided a $2,000 grant for the historical plaque after the student from the Aquinas Society undertook two years of research into the history and heritage of the Jamaica Estates community.
