Padavan Honors New Eagle Scouts From Troop 1

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with members and leaders from Troop 1 in Flushing to celebrate their landmark 100th anniversary at Temple Beth Sholom on Saturday February 6, 2010. Troop 1, is the oldest troop in the Greater New York Councils and one of the oldest troops in the United States. Throughout its history, the service of the troop members has made great and lasting contributions to the entire Queens community. Senator Frank Padavan and New York Yankees baseball great Babe Ruth are the only two honorary members of historic Troop 1. During the celebration, Senator Padavan honored two members of Troop for obtaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. In recognition of their accomplishments, Senator Padavan presented Thomas Flores and Kevin Wong with a New York State Senate Medal of Outstanding Achievement and a Certificate of Merit during their Court of Honor ceremony. Padavan assisted Kevin Wong in his community service project towards becoming an eagle scout by using his Bellerose District Office as a drop-off point for a troop care package drive. Senator Padavan honors new Eagle Scouts Thomas Flores and Kevin Wong for obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout on Saturday February 6, 2010.
