Padavan Sponsors Educational Event At Mary Louis Academy

On Wednesday April 21st, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) sponsored the “Young Women in Math Day” at the Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica Estates. More than 120 seventh graders from 42 public and non-public schools took part in the event aimed at fostering interest and expansion of mathematic skills.  The event featured workshops and math related competitions throughout the afternoon.  During the awards ceremony, Senator Padavan spoke about how math helped him in his career as an engineer and urged the students to continue their pursuit of excellence in mathematics. Senator Padavan with the award winners from the “Young Women in Math Day” at the Mary Louis Academy on Wednesday April 21, 2010.
