Senator Maziarz recently attended a presentation at the New York Power Authority Frederick R. Clark Energy Center in Marcy.
The presentation included information on the NYPA Energy Control Center which monitors all NYPA facilities in New York. This is manned 24 hours a day and information is exchanged with other transm...issions owners in NY every 6 seconds.
The facility is also home to the Convertible Static Compensator (CSC)—a device which increases the capacity on the heavily used transmission lines.
Completed in July 2004, CSC permits total increases of 100 megawatts on the Utica-Albany lines and 192 megawatts—enough to serve about 192,000 homes—statewide, as well as the training center for linemen throughout the Power Authority.
