Senator Maziarz welcomes Brandon Lyles, Boys and Girls Club honoree, to Albany

WHEREAS, it is the duty of the people of the State of New York to recognize and acknowledge those within its midst, particularly young people, who have significant accomplishments and contributions to their credit; and
WHEREAS, Brandon A. Lyles, a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northtowns of Western New York and a junior at Cardinal O’Hara High School, has been nominated for the 2010 New York State Youth of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Brandon, the regional Youth of the Year, has overcome many challenges in life, including the tragedies of losing his mother at an early age, an absent father, and the divorce of his aunt and uncle; yet through all this, Brandon has developed into outstanding youth who is strong in academics, extracurricular activities (particularly sports and school musicals), and volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Brandon is widely known and respected among his peers and adults as someone who is a conscientious, polite, and motivated leader; Brandon dreams of entering a career in law enforcement and would love the opportunity to help the victims of crime achieve justice; and
WHEREAS, Brandon Lyles will be in Albany for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America—New York State Youth of the Year program on May 23-25 for judging, interviews, legislative visits, and the award announcement; then

BE IT KNOWN, that I salute your drive to succeed and be the best person you can be, despite any challenges that may arise. You are an outstanding youth in the eyes of all who know you, and I hope that you reach your goals and find happiness and success in life.
