Senator George Maziarz (R-C, Newfane) was pleased to welcome two Gates-Chili High School students, Daniel Montgomery and Lindsay Zimmerman, to the capital on Monday who were there to perform with the All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
“The young people of our region have so much talent,” Senator Maziarz said. “I am so pleased that Daniel and Lindsay had the chance to shine in the state capital.”
The students performed with the All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble on the evening of Monday, March 1, in the Empire State Plaza, where a special reception was held in their honor. The event was part of the New York State School Music Association’s 37th anniversary, newly renamed as the Joseph R. Sugar NYSSMA Day in Albany.
During the reception, Senator Maziarz presented them each with a proclamation saluting their outstanding vocal and musical talents.
“Getting selected to participate in this concert is a mark of distinction,” Senator Maziarz said. “Hopefully, this experience will stay with Daniel and Lindsay as they continue their education and continue to develop their talent.”
Daniel Montgomery, a bass, is a Gates resident. Lindsay, an alto, lives in Chili.
