April 20, 2010
ALBANY, 04/21/10 - State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) is calling for a state budget that includes commonsense spending cuts, property tax relief, job creating economic development incentives and most importantly - NO NEW TAXES.
Last year, the record spending budget, opposed by Senator Seward, included $8 billion in new taxes and fees, driving families and businesses out of the state. Albany leaders are proposing more of the same this year.
The attached report outlines 125 distinct taxes and fees totaling $18.7 billion that were enacted in 2009 or are under discussion for 2010.
