Mary Boatfield Honored by Senator Nozzolio at 2010 NYS Senate Women of Distinction Ceremony

Albany- Chosen by Senator Mike Nozzolio for her extraordinary accomplishments and commitment to helping children and families throughout her community, Mary Walsh Boatfield of Geneva, CEO of Happiness House/Finger Lakes Cerebral Palsy Association, is among the outstanding women across New York State who were honored at the 2010 "Women of Distinction" ceremony held May 25 at the State Capitol, and sponsored by the New York State Senate.

Mary has been an advocate for individuals and families affected by developmental disabilities for over 30 years. As the CEO of Happiness House, she ensures that hundreds of children and adults with disabilities receive high quality educational, recreational and family support services.  Today with sites in Canandaigua, Geneva, Gorham, and Waterloo, Happiness House has developed a reputation for leadership and innovation and serves over 1,000 children, adults and their families in Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates Counties.

"It is an honor to recognize and pay tribute to Mary Boatfield. Mary is fully committed to listening to and empowering children and families with disabilities and has shown an extraordinary willingness to give of her time in service to the growing needs of the community," said Senator Nozzolio.

Launched in 1998, the Women of Distinction program was created to celebrate the rich heritage of notable women from New York's past as well as to honor outstanding women today who have followed their example.
