May 21, 2010: More than 105 seniors were present when New York State Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada, Jr. visited with senior moms at the JASA Senior Center located at 3880 Sedgwick Avenue. It was an enjoyable event, including an impromptu dance between Senator Espada and a 98-year-young lady, in celebration of the everlasting love and work of motherhood.
The Senator also took a moment to assure all seniors that he will fight every step of the way to save senior centers from closing in Senate District 33. Senator Esapda announced the disbursement of funds for JASA Senior Center toward equipment purchases and upgrades to the food preparation area. He also invited those present to contact his office with any additional needs the center may have.
"I'm fighting and working hard to make sure our seniors receive funding for all senior meals and day-activities," remarked Senator Espada.
JASA Senior Center Director Sharon Wolf thanked Senator Espada for fighting for seniors and standing up to protect this vulnerable population from suffering any further in this devastating economy.
