Rallying For Education Funds: Senator Stewart-Cousins fought for education funding this week in Albany, attending a press conference on Wednesday calling for the restoration of school aid in the State budget, and also rallying on Thursday for funding for the 4201 schools for blind and deaf students. The Senator says the education cuts can be restored by continuing the income tax surcharge on the wealthiest New Yorkers, which has been law since 2009 but is set to expire this year.
Open Door Family Medical Centers Visit the Senator in Albany: The Senator met with patients, employees and volunteers from the Open Door Family Medical Centers this week, to discuss the New York State Budget and other legislative issues including the expansion of their facility in Sleepy Hollow. The Open Door Family Medical Centers serve over 40,000 patients in four locations throughout Westchester County. To see a picture from their meeting with the Senator, click here.

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day: Senator Stewart-Cousins presented certificates of recognition to the Grand Marshal and Aides of the 2011 Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow St. Patrick’s Day Parade at the annual Installation Dinner this week. The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade, which is taking place Sunday March 13 at 1:30 on Main Street in Tarrytown, is Maureen McGowan Barbelet. The Senator also issued proclamations for the Grand Marshal and Aides of the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade at their annual dinner. The parade and dinner were held on Sunday March 6 and this year’s Grand Marshal was Roy McLaughlin.
