February 9, 2011
Representatives from the American Red Cross’s Southwestern NY Chapter, which serves Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties, and the Clara Barton Chapter # 1, which serves Livingston County, were in Albany recently to join other chapters from across the state for the New York State’s Red Cross annual Lobby Day.
Senator Young had the opportunity to meet with the group to talk about Red Cross services and volunteer opportunities. From left to right are: Joseph King, Vince Horrigan, Thomas Bruner, Senator Young, Clayton Sweeney and Janice King.
Each year, the American Red Cross responds immediately to over 70,000 disasters, including house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters.
