Senator Young Honored by the Red Cross

Senator Young was presented with the Southwestern NY Chapter of the American Red Cross's “Distinguished Service Award” at the Chapter’s Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet recently in Olean.
Presenting the award to Senator Young were the Chapter’s Executive Director Bill Tucker (left) and Board Chairman Clayton Sweeny (right).
The American Red Cross of Southwestern NY has a membership of more than 550 volunteers and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and emergencies across Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.
Over the past year, the Southwestern NY Chapter of the American Red Cross has responded to more than 80 disasters, opened seven mass care shelters, collected more than 12,000 units of blood, served 61 members of the armed forces during family emergency, educated over 2,000 people on disaster preparedness, and provided health and safety training to more than 11,000 people.
