On November 11, I had the distinct honor of accompanying one of my constituents, Stanley Maziarz of North Tonawanda (no relation), to New York City where he was presented with a distinguished award for his military service.  Stanley, a hero of World War II, was named a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the President of the French Republic, Mr. Nicholas Sarkozy.  This award signifies the French people’s deep appreciation for Stanley’s contribution to the liberation of France during World War II.

In this photo, Stanley, his son, and I join the French Ambassador to the United States, Francois Delattre (at left).

I was proud and privileged to join Stanley as he was presented with the Legion of Honor insignia—the highest military decoration in France.
